Massiv XI, Massiv Metro’s mecca for football lovers upped the ante tonight with Football Freestyle Champion Ashley Mkhize on the show to speak about the other, lesser known side of South Africa’s favourite sport. ‘Floorise’ as Ashley is affectionately known is on a mission to grow the highly-skilled sport and also bring more awareness through the #FuelYourFun campaign in association with Puma Energy. The idea is to have fans try and mimic or even outdo some of Ashley’s best tricks and to post videos of these onto their Facebook page and, Ashley hopes, find the next star.
“It’s a chance to bring people together from all over the world in a way that is both challenging and fun. I can’t wait to see what skills everyone brings to the floor.”The 23-year-old two-time South African Freestyle Football Champion is, however, very adamant that education should come first before one pursues their dreams either in Freestyle Football or any other industry. “You gotta finish your matric. If you get an opportunity to study further, and also work on your dream at the same time, grab the opportunity with both hands.” For those seriously interested in the craft, Ashley has the following tips for them:
- Work on your craft so that you can be the best at it so that when the opportunity comes, you are prepared for it.
- Always be professional even when the opportunity comes – don’t have people complaining about you.
- Get your education – people laugh at me all the time when I say it but you’ve got to finish your matric first
