Mornings are Massiv with Penny Lebyane

Mornings are Massiv with Penny Lebyane, her girl gang and a host of rocking, real and relevant contributors and this week was no different.

Our Mondays are all about shining the spotlight on men who are doing the most in their respective fields and sometimes they come with a side of hot sauce. This Monday we got to chat to television presenter and producer, Andile Ncube. As we know the country is now under level 4 of the lockdown and government is doing all it can to ensure that the spread of the coronavirus is contained, but it has been struggling to address the high volumes of domestic abuse.

Brewing company Carling Black label has created a WhatsApp line, under its #NoExcuse campaign, to help and encourage victims of domestic abuse to speak up during the national lockdown. Personalities such as Andile are part of this #NoExcuse campaign and so he shed some light on the alarming numbers of gender based violence since the lockdown, the campaign and called upon men to stand in the gap.

For our Educational & Empowerment Tuesday, we delved into the world of Skokvels. Penny spoke to Slindile Leseyane who is the founder of Sakhisizwe Property Stokvel, which provides property investment opportunities for people who want to invest in property but do not have the time, skills, or large sums of money required.

The ladies brought all the heat with their #GirlPowerAnthems this week – every Thursday on #SheLeads. Penny chose “No more drama” by Mary J Blige; Kamo tugged at hearts and chose “Mama” by Spice Girls; while Tsholo got the studio two-stepping with “Get Right” by Jennifer Lopez.  Once again Kamo walked away with the best song, voted for by the Twitter streets, and in true winner fashion caused a bit of a stir in studio by standing on a chair to remind the ladies that she is the queen of girl power.

To keep things on brand with battling it out, #TheList brought to you by your Absolute Fave, was inspired by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s Verzuz beat battle series which happens on Instagram Live. We counted down top 5 Verzuz battles people think would slap and this is who it boiled down to:

  1. Monica vs Brandy
  2. Diddy vs Jermaine Dupri
  3. Mike Will Made It vs Mustard
  4. Usher vs Justin Timberlake
  5. Kanye vs Pharrell Williams

The Phly one wrapped up the week with a bang when we took a digital plane to Los Angeles to have a chat with Craig Ross Jr and Caryn Ward Ross, who are the creators of “Monogamy” a hit-series from the US that throws conventional relationships and marriages on their heads. Monogamy is a Netflix series that has now started stream on the African continent, with Season 2 having dropped this Friday, 15 May 2020.

Penny also spoke to Robby Collins who is considered one of the most prominent faces of the new generation of South African comedians. We rounded up the show in true #AllStarFriday fashion with an Amapiano Mix from Tumeigh Bosch.
